What is Perch-A-Palooza?

It is a fishing competition where anglers fish in a specific Fishing Zone to catch and record all their surf perch caught, to determine who in a 2 hour window has the longest combined length of all surf perch caught, using only Sand Crabs as bait.

Where is Perch-A-Palooza?

0.4 miles south of the Beacons Beach Lifeguard tower. At a location known as H-Wall.

Awards ceremony is at Scoopy Scoopy, at Moto Deli.

How do I sign up for Perch-A-Palooza?

How much is entry, and what does it get me?

It is $40 per angler to enter, and it get’s you:

  • Participation in Perch-A-Palooza

  • Perch-A-Palooza participant t-shirt

  • 1 free Scoopy Scoopy scoop of ice cream at awards ceremony

  • the chance to win a prize

What are the possible ways to win?

Awards will be given to the winners of a few different categories:

  • Winner: Longest Combined Length of all Surf Perch Caught

  • Largest single Surf Perch

  • Smallest single Surf Perch

  • Most unique Non-Surf Perch catch

Can I fish as a team?

YES! This is a family friendly event. If you are a parent, and your child is a little too young or inexperienced in fishing to fish alone, you may be on a team together. Only one shirt will be given to a team, so pick the shirt size of your kid, unless you want the shirt more than they do, then you pick the size for yourself… your call.

Do I need a Fishing License?

How will the length of all Surf Perch I catch be recorded?

There will be official Surf Perch Measurers with official Surf Perch measuring boards. They will record the length of your Surf Perch.
